Google just release Lively, a 3D social networking/chat tool. A lot of people are now testing Lively and they may feel confused using Lively. Here are some hacks of Google Lively. Wish it can be helpful for you~
The No 1 Hack is
how to create a new room
1.Create your room
go to http://www.lively.com/mine, and you will see the “Create a new room” button (like picture below)
just click the button, and you will be asked to sign in your new room now!(see pic below)
2.Sign in
Just enter your Google Account’s Username and Password, click “Sign in” , the you are logging in your new Lively Room!(see pic above)
3.Edit your Room Properties
Once you have logged into your new Lively Room, you will see the Room Properties form (see pic below)
1.Choose a name for Room Title
2.Write some words for Room Description
to let people know what your room is about (like “It's like the end of Star Wars... But...”).
3.I think most people want their rooms to be included in the Lively Room List. So
check the box under Public Directory
.
4.Public Decorating
If you wish visitors to add, move or remove objects, choose Public.
If you just want visitors to move objects, choose Interactive.
Or you just want your visitors to do nothing but talk, choose Private.
4.Save Thumbnail
It is not necessary to do now, but I want to tell you how to make the thumbnail for your room (the thumbnail will be showed in the Google Lively Room Directory, just like pic blow)
Click the Web Pages Tab, the Google Lively says “The current view may be saved for the thumbnail image that appears in the web page.” Choose the current view you want to show in the Google Lively Directory, and click Save Thumbnail. It’s Ok now. (see pic below)
5.Upload your music
It’s amazing! You can upload your favorite music to Google Lively. And your music will be played in your own room!
Notice：Google Lively says, “Audio updates are delayed while uploaded files are converted to proper formats.” (see pic below)
6.Choose a shell
A shell is like a theme for a blog. You can choose a shell for you new room. It’s cool~ (See pic below)
7.Decorate your room
After doing all these things, now you will have your beta room now~
Tips: To decorate your new room, it is wisely to change your view to “Bird Eye’s View”
a. Add Furniture
Click the “Furniture” button in the right sidebar, you will see the “Furniture & Things” form now:
you have two method to add furniture:
1.double click the furniture
2.click the furniture, and click add to your room
b.Move the furniture
Once you add a furniture, it will be placed where you are. But it may not be the perfect place for it. So you need to move your furniture.
Move your mouse to the furniture you want to move, and your mouse will become a cross. Now, you can drag and drop the furniture to wherever you want.
Tips: When you move your mouse around a furniture, your mouse will bend. And if you hold your mouse and move, the furniture will turn a round. Stop when the furniture direction is OK.
C.Edit the furniture
Double click a furniture and it will pop up a ticket. Click the Edit tag, you can enter Hyperlink for your furniture. (See pic below)
Now, you will have your RC Lively Room~
Just invite your friends to your room and do more to your room. Enjoy it~
Tips:
If you want to change your Room Propertys, you can click the “Create a new room/Edit your room” to edit.
